Sharing Gentle Silence

The practice of being in silence is a valuable tool for spiritual discovery. It allows each of us time to be with our own thoughts, reflect on our inner process, and simply be. Outer stillness helps us cultivate stable inner stillness, clarity and inner strength. Silence supports us to live in the present, in touch with our feelings and truth.

Now is our opportunity to let go for some days of our worldly self and be more with our inner self, our feelings, our heart, our own inner stillness. To make a home in the silence is to discover a place where our personality and worldly self can rest. When our everyday mental activity slows down and rests, another part of us is present. Our heart space can come forward.

Time for introspection

Our retreat home is like a spiritual library. Each person is doing their own research. Sharing gentle silence and quiet gives everyone time for introspection and the opportunity to be with their heart. Shifting our attention to our heart we can find peace, the divine and God is very present.

Verbal silence is only a tool and not the end in itself. When you need to ask a question or communicate with someone this is perfectly fine. Everyone does the best they can to offer each other a sanctuary of peace where we have the space and time we need to be inward. Here there are no words. There is so much to receive.

As we let go of our expectations and judgments, our journey into the silence becomes our own. There is a big inner life for us to discover. With a rich and expanding inner life, our life in the world finds new freedom, freshness and aliveness, that is a natural extension of who we really are.
